Two point museum unplayable after update

My poor game is refusing to launch at all after the update this afternoon. My system (xbox) installed the update, finished and now just pops up saying it can't find said update?. Just wondering if anyone else is experiencing this and if there's a fix?. Enjoying this game so much my museum visitors need me!.

Same. I even tried to uninstall and reinstall. Plus I know I lost progress. Because the need for an update froze my game and kicked me out before I could save. But I don't even know how much progress I lost. Because the game won't load at all. No other game is giving me trouble. But I am stuck in an endless loop of your game needs an update but there are no more updates to install. So annoying!

Yep I tried the good old uninstall and reinstall also no joy. just hoping devs know about it and can give us a fix and I don't even want to think about lost progress I try to quick save as often as I can, hopefully we haven't lost too much but hey I'll be happy if I can just launch the game

Flagging I'm having the same issue on xbox (in the UK, in case it's a regional thing). 


Installed game update and both add-ons also installed small updates, then restarted console. 


No other updates available and error message trying to launch game: "Update needed. You need this update, but we can't get it at the moment. Try again in a while. (ox8b050033)"

Yep, I'm getting the same "you need this update" message on Xbox Series X. It's very frustrating. I played last night and everything was working fine, minus the occasional crash, but now it's unplayable. I'm in the US, so I don't think it's a UK issue.

Came back after food and tried again - didn't install an update but did manage to launch. 


PLUS got a pop up saying my missing twitch drops were unlocked :)

Thank you!. I gave up tried it again but still wasn't working gave the console a restart and I'm in. Pleased you got your drops.

Just updated and tried launching the game.  I get the following:


"Update needed - You need this update, but we can't get in right now.  Try again in a while. (0x8b050033)"


Only options are 'Close' and 'Help'


Xbox Series S.  Located in the US

Same here, game won't load post update. (Xbox series X, UK)


Have restarted, reinstalled, hard-reset, nothing works. 


Very frustrating, I was having fun.

same in uk tried all last night reinstalled game a couple of time no luck got up this morning tried again and with restarting Xbox full power cycle uninstalled and reinstalled the game a few more times and no luck other game are working just no museum

I just want to add that I'm having the same problem - UK based, XBox One X. Tried clearing cache, uninstalling and installing.


Message on XBox: "Update Needed. You may need to update, but we can't get it at the moment. Try again in a while. (0x8b050033)


Tried early yesterday evening and again this morning with no luck.

Also having this issue! Made a post about it yesterday, I've reported it every way possible. I turned the game off for less than 5 minutes and when I came back, I started getting that message 😭 Xbox series s

Having same issue, only work around have found is to take xbox offline then the game will start but its less than ideal

I made an account just to say this


I ended up speaking to Xbox support after having the same issue. I tried uninstalling, reinstalling, I waited, I did a soft reset, I tried everything to fix it myself. After speaking to someone at Xbox, the only solution was to reset my console to factory settings. 


The steps are to "go offline", first, then restore to factory settings. You won't lose progress in games as its tied to your account. Then, reset your Xbox. When it restarts, you'll be asked to reset it using the Xbox app on your phone. Follow all those steps, tell it not to copy over your settings, and allow remote install. 


Then turn your Xbox off, go to your Xbox app, and click Install to, tell it to install to your Xbox. 


THEN, it should work properly. This is the only way mine got fixed.
