The Rowling references are getting offensive

Well, she did it again. This time the cloud she is yelling at is the asexual community. Meanwhile, Obsidian made a somewhat shallow but very good depiction of one asexual woman.

I was a little ahead of the curve. Having an extremely abusive childhood meant that the depictions of children and adolescents offended me a lot. The people who make the *great* literary works, music, films, and videogames today? More like the heroes of The Goonies.

I wonder what that classless bitch is going to turn her Harry Potty baby mouth to next. The mentally ill (including me)? The autistic (ditto)? Adults who were abused as children (yep, also me)?

At what point is putting up with your unavoidable references going to turn into outrage and a backlash against your games? I would suggest it is more prudent to start retooling parts of the game now because I highly doubt my nieces would want to share that drivel with their children.

Depicting a Mage school with trademark-neutralised versions of Dungeons & Dragons or Magic The Gathering elements would not be difficult.

Hey friend,

I understand needing a vent now and then; the world is a scary place at times! We're not affiliated with or reference any particular works in our titles. While we might have nods to certain things in real life, Two Point County is its own separate universe, and we don't have any links/affiliations to the franchises you've mentioned.

The only exception is that as we're a SEGA-owned studio, you will find SEGA references, easter eggs, and even items in-game.

If there are specific parts of our games that have caused upset or hurt, I'd urge you to please send us an email to contact@twopointstudios[dot]com so we're able to take that feedback on board. I ask you to email in as we try to keep our community spaces as a refuge for people to escape from 'real-world problems', and so discussing topics that have the potential to get heavy is best kept elsewhere to protect that. I know that's a naive approach, but our closed garden spaces, like our Discord, have become a safe space for people to chat about games and distract themselves if that's what they need.

If you'd like to look into more about the work SEGA does, you can search for SEGA Pride to see a history of the company's fundraising efforts and campaigns over the years

Take care, from a fellow aroace AuDHDer
