I was gifted the game via steam, and downloaded it on Feb. 27. I proceeded to play the game for 12 hours.  I made sure before exiting the game I saved.  When I booted up my computer and TPM this morning, I went to "continue" my campaign game I started.  When I clicked continue, it took me straight to the map with the first museum like starting the game.  I went and checked if I was in the wrong save file, but there were no other save files.  I tried closing and reopening the game as well.  It appears my  12 hour save file is missing.

UPDATE: I was able to fix with deleting the save file and renaming a backup file...but its extremely glitched out.  See attached screenshot of map

UPDATE #2:I found this documentation about editing save files, and I did all the steps listed and still bugged :/  https://community.twopointcounty.com/two-point-studios/two-point-museum/forums/9-welcome-info/threads/2201-bugs-general-troubleshooting?page=1#post-7578

Managed to solve this issue by doing a search on similar issues with other two point games--did this fix from two point hospital but with my museum save folder and was able to fix! https://steamcommunity.com/app/535930/discussions/0/1742220359698664739/

Hello,

So sorry you had this trouble but well done for editing your saves!

The steps for this are also found in our general troubleshooting guide here: https://steamcommunity.com/app/2185060/discussions/1/594016102539903117/#:~:text=Cloud%20Saves/Editing%20save%20files  (for any other users that experience this).

I've also just finished speaking with one of our Techy Devs - they said that issues like this can be caused by hardware that's beginning to fail.

They said to check:

  • Is your C: on a hard drive or an SSD? Is it an old one?
  • Do you have antivirus installed? Which one?
  • Have you had any other weird behaviour or corrupted files in Windows recently?

Hopefully you don't experience the issue again, but if you copy your repaired save into another save folder, you'll have a working backup in case it happens again and you can't restore it.

Thanks again for the updates.

Chizel

My C: drive is an SSD, its a bit on the older side but I haven't run into any other issues with other files/games.  The antivirus I have is only windows defender.

even after I did the repairs on the save file, I unfortunately was not able to fix the issue--I got my stars/level back but the map was still stuck on the first instance of the career.

Hey mikyu416!

Sorry you're still having trouble with your save! Would you be able to send us the whole Two Point Museum folder so we can investigate further for you?

Thank you for your patience!
