Fellow dev here. Long time player but something it getting irratating now - so actually made an account just to report this. I'm not nerotypical so perhaps it just more obvious to me.

The music bitrate seems to be incredibly low. It's aggressivly low - so much so that our Technical Director heard it and was so distracted by the quaility, ranted 5 mins straight about it, that he requested headphones and was shocked that it COULD be a creative choice. I'm not convinced it is a feature or creative choice, feels like a bug.

Running Win 10 PC Xbox Game Pass.

Same issue via PC Speakers and Wireless Headphones. Using Realtek drivers 10.0.19041.1

Happens right from boot - so including map screen etc.

No issues with any SFX, VO for radio etc., they are all cristal clear, sharp.

Repeateable every time - has always been the case, pre 1.5 and post 1.5.

Hope to get a patch/easy config fix for this, so I don't have to mute the music to play.

Hi TriPixie,

Thanks for posting.

It would be good to know if you experience this on more than one machine. Are you able to try another for me?

Thanks,

Chizel

Same on an alterative machine on a new save. Still Windows 10. Programmers machine I tried it on suggested it was the same kind of muffled music you used to get on the SNES.

Just listened through the OST on YouTube to sainty check - and tbh it sounds equal to what I'm getting locally. Perhaps it could be a creative descison - not sure if they've just been mastered like that or it's something added in Audio Mixer. If it's the latter - could I ask for a feature request to be able to remove the audio effects added on the mixer at runtime? Or balance that muffling myself? It's super distracting and causes me some discomfort that I ended up turning off music all together.

Thanks,

Hi TriPixie

Thanks for this added information!

The Audio Team are still looking into this so I will update again when I know more.

Thanks for your patience,

Chizel
