In most rooms you can hire a janitor trained in upgrades, drop him in the room with the upgrade request already in place (e.g. lecture II) and the janitor will start work straight away

But in the training room the default drop menu is "training" - So trying to upgrade a training machine is impossible - I tried cancelling and calling a janitor and that didn't work either

More of a design flaw than an actual glitch, but very frustrating!

Sorry that you're experiencing this. Janitors should be able to be dropped on training pods to upgrade them directly like items in others rooms as you say. Are the training pods you have perhaps very close to each other?

to be honest I do have UX issues trying to select things on the Switch anyway (crowded rooms in particular are hard to select the whole room to move it for example) - But that's expected with using a smaller screen
