So when you want to select a staff member for the research lab it will not show the staff with the research skill so they cant work there even when dropping them in there they leave right away

Ok so here is the thing, when there is no research project going on they will be available to put in there but when you start a research project they cant work there anymore. This is a serious issue guys please fix this

The only time my research staff can work in the research lab is when there is NOT a project running. When I start a project, all research staff leave the room immediately and will not return even if dropped in the room.

I came here with the same issue! Staff work in the lab 'generating ideas' just fine.  As soon as I assign a project, they leave and I can't get them to work there.  I have tried building new labs with no joy.  This is something that was working the other day, so it is a new bug I think.

Cancel research, teacher stays in research. Soon as you start a new research, all teachers leave.

Update:

It appears you need to have a teacher trained in the field of your research, not just research.

Everybody Loathes Parfait requires a teachers trained in Funny business, once they were trained, 3 teachers started working in research without issue.

Makes no sense to have researchers then in the end

I'm sorry for the confusion experienced with researching. As EDNetwork has mentioned; For course specific items, the teacher needs to be qualified in the course the item is for in order to research the item (for example, robotics for robotic items). Research qualification increases the speed the research is done. I've passed this feedback to the team to look into improving the communication around this feature in game.
