Is anyone one else really struggling for money in Piazza Lanatra? I have only the absolutely essential items in rooms and a small staff base but losing so much money. Restarted a few times now but can’t work out what is going wrong? I’ve seen a few people reporting the same thing on YT :(

I had this problem, but I also really overhired and overbuilt, but I actually just kinda waited it out? After a couple of academic years, with additional new students coming in, I eventually started making a profit until I had more money than I could spend. I wish I had a better grasp on how not to get into this mess because the couple of years I just kinda sat watching my negative money slowly turn back to positive was extremely boring, but if you don't overbuild, I think you probably need to lose money your first year and as long as you don't go negative with loans, the additional 2nd/3rd year students coming in should help you turn that around later.

Heya, You can adjust the number of students on intake you get. More students obviously more money, I think the start is 10 default and max so if you have enough credits upgrade it straight away so you get 15 I think it is.

It tells you at the top of the screen when adjusting courses what your projected income will be over the year and it alters as you alter the student levels so you can keep an eye on how much your spending with that in mind.

Also you can adjust your course fee costs to make the students pay more but this reduces happiness, it tells you as you adjust the slider what affect on happiness it will have and again it will alter your projected income for the year so you can see what you should get.

You can schedule cooking competitions in your cooking rooms and if you win you get a few thousand prize money there's a recommended level for your students for competition so just double check your students levels before you enter.

This is the type of stuff I did when I struggled a little with negative income and it worked out quite well so I hope it helps you

First year seems to be a year for sure to not have a profit. Hahah. Because of all buildings and upgrades.  I even need to take two loans to do all the necessary jobs. $$$ profit starts to click in later 2nd year and 3rd year, and after that should be no problem. Just don’t expand too quickly. Just build what you need and control your expenses when you first start.

A couple of minor tips that might help with money making:

1) When starting the level, first build all the things you'll need. Then before starting the year you can upgrade your course with the points you got for increasing campus level. Higher level courses get you more fees. This will also give you the ability to take in more students (don't go over 16 or you'll need more teaching rooms).

2) Get decent prestige for your dorms. This increases the rent the students pay. You can increase the prestige using cheap items (e.g. a bunch of different posters), then generate more profit.

Thanks everyone. Student intake was only 8 students, staff hire was only 1 per room, room build was that recommended and items placed was only the 2-3 items starred in order for the green tick to highlight so the room could be built. No expansions on plots or to buildings were done either but I was still haemorrhaging money. It seems to have settled now thankfully though course coins are a pain. Think I am mainly just stuck in the TPH mode of being able to make money very quickly:/

I usually have one of the 'easy' courses running, like General Knowledge or Scientography as that brings in more money and don't require really expensive rooms.
