Hello,
The team have been investigating this, could you try the following to see if it helps improve your experience?
- Disable vsync and lower the framerate limit (this will keep quality the same but just cap FPS to lower load on the GPU)
- Lower graphics quality pre-set (lower quality, so naturally less load on the GPU)
- Lower resolution (also less work for GPU to do)
Let us know if this helps!
Thanks for your patience,
Chizel
Hey there
On the "Wailon Lodge" map, I noticed that if I zoom out all the way, my computer's fans would go absolutely crazy. It is definitely not a normal "Machine working hard" kind of crazy, but the type of run-away-fps type of crazy. After reviewing some graphs on my machine, it turns out the GPU usage spikes from ~70% to ~100% when this occurs. Framerate itself, however, remains unaffected (typically between 150 and 200).
After some experimenting, it turned out it wasn't zooming out that was the problem, but rather any time some (not all) of the edges of the map are displayed on the screen. For example, the right hand edge causes the problem every time, however the top edge does not (as long as the upper right corner is not also in view).
I attempted to use the FPS Limit to cap the FPS at a reasonable level in case the problem was run-away-fps, however that did not resolve it. Looking at those edges still causes the GPU to completely max out and heat up like crazy.
My GPU is: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 using the latest NVidia driver (572.70 as of this writing).
This isn't game-breaking by any stretch (I can simply avoid the edges) and I absolutely love the game! Thanks TPS!
