Hi, I purchased and downloaded the game today (23/4/25) but when trying to launch the game a small Two Point Museum window pop-ups but then disappears and Steam goes back to presenting the play option.

Looking online I found a few people mention the location of where the crash logs get stored and can see one of those for each attempt to launch the game.

I have made sure that Steam is up to date and my GPU Drivers as well. I have also tried the Verify game files option which came back with no issues.

Edit (24/4/25): I also tried the Public_beta branch in Steam and had the same problem.

Step by step of the bug
Step 1
Find Game in Steam Library
Step 2
Click Play button
Step 3
Notice Two Point Museum little window appear
Step 4
Notice Steam reset to presenting the play button

Update 1.2.180068

Hello,

Thanks again for all of the files you sent over.

The programmers have suggested the following steps:

  1. Verify the integrity of your game files in Steam to ensure that none of them failed to download correctly. Steps for this can be found here.
  2. You potentially have an issue with your audio drivers. We have some info here, and we recommend:
    1. Realtek HD Audio Driver. Either upgrade to the latest version from your PC or motherboard manufacturer's website, or uninstall them through "Add or remove programs"
    2. Sonic Studio 3 - common on ASUS ROG machines. Disable in Task Manager: Task Manager -> Startup -> Right click Sonic Studio 3 and select disable
    3. Steelseries NAHIMIC - common on MSI and Lenovo machines. Can just exit the app, or end its process in Task Manager: Task Manager -> Processes -> Right click on NAHIMIC and select End Task
    4. AlienWare Sound Centre. Disable in Task Manager: Task Manager -> Startup -> Right click AlienWare Sound Centre and select disable
    5. Restart AudioSrv process. Task Manager -> Services -> Right click "AudioSrv" and choose 'restart' (sourced from Reddit).

I hope that helps, Let us know if you're still stuck!

Thanks,

Chizel

Update 1.2.180068

Hi,

I had already verified the files but have done that again since and no issues are reported. I have even tried the latest beta branch (as of 23/4/25) but this also made no difference.

I have upgraded the Realtek Audio HD drivers using the ones provided by my motherboard manufacturer and rebooted but this has made no difference and the issue is still the same as previous. The other audio items mentioned don't appear to relate to my setup.

Update 1.2.180068

Hi there,

I’m having the same issue. I was playing the game without any problems, but now I can’t start it again. It seems to be related to Unity. A loading window appears briefly, but it closes too quickly to read properly — although I can see it mentions Unity.

I’ve upgraded my video drivers, uninstalled and reinstalled the game, cleared the download cache on Steam, verified the integrity of the files, and even disabled Realtek audio. Nothing has worked so far.

Thanks,

Step by step of the bug
Step 1
Open Steam
Step 2
Play the game
Step 3
Loading window appears briefly,
Step 4
Steam resets and the Play button appears.

So i opened the latest crash dump i had in Visual Studio and loaded the appropriate Unity Player symbols file from Unity Hub. It appears to show the error with the below area in the MainThrd

UnityPlayer.dll!core::StringStorageDefault<char>::assign(char const *,unsigned __int64)

The disassembly part points to:
00007FFAC8BEC82A movzx eax, byte ptr [rcx+1Fh] but i am not sure if that is meaningful to yourselves

The exception is listed as "The thread tried to read from or write to a virtual address for which it does not have the appropriate access." I tried running as Administrator too but the same error occurs
