When leaving on an expedition the helicopter got stuck - I had to demolish it to get it working again
Playing on Bungle Wasteland, one staff member made it to the helicopter, the other did not. Thus, the expedition will never begin.
From my observations, the other staff member does not appear to be properly "existing" at the time, so the expedition cannot be cancelled (one staff is in the chopper, the other will never get there). Because they don't "exist" I cannot select them to open the management menu, even by clicking in their name on the staff list. I also can't pick them up to reset their pathing, if it is a pathing issue.
The Expert in the chopper is named "Bitey Duckworth" and the Assistant is named "Clarabelle Sweetener"
Edit: Drag Demolish did not fix the issue, unfortunately. In addition, I attempted to reset the NPC pathing by blocking access to the helipad entirely, waiting a couple in-game days, and re-allowing access. This did not fix it either.

Happened on Bungle Wasteland.
You can see the staff member didn't make it and is either invisible or stuck under map.

Same here. Attached current save as requested in Steam community discussion topic about this. Will note that using the public_beta branch as of 3/11/2025 allowed the helicopter to take off.

I'm not sure exactly how I got into this situation, but a recent save on my game had a helicopter setup for expedition but not leaving. I also had an analysis room declaring it needed a prehistory expert but nobody was going in there to start it. I tried to assign a lvl 1 prehistory expert for the analysis to speed their leveling, but I have a feeling this same expert was assigned to the stuck expedition. The helicopter was in the "get to the chopper" status but I'm not sure what the game said for the expert's status. The expedition had no cancel option, and the world map said I couldn't set up a new expedition for the area because the expedition was already in progress.
When I canceled analysis, the helicopter immediately took off, so I think somehow the expert was torn between the 2 rooms.

I'm in the same situation as some of these others I'm afraid but for me its essentially soft locked my game. It happened to me on the Museum for Bungle Burrows but it was for the expedition where you go to get the Whirlcogs so I can't get supplies to progress further into the game. The helicopter tried to leave to go to the mission, the staff are inside but its just stuck on the helicopter pad and the progress bar is frozen.
Heres what ive tried:-
-Going to an earlier save - Unfortunately the autosave has saved after it happened so I cant revert it back.
- Selling the Chopper - It wont let me pick it up and I cant sell it.
-Selling the staff trapped inside - It wont let me interact with them and they seem trapped in the chopper.
- Building over the Helipad - It doesnt let me place a building over the top of it. I cant commit the changes.
- Demolishing tool - I have tried using the demolishing tool and highlighting the affected area but I'm not allowed to do this either.
My game is fully up to date on Steam ( i havent tried the BETA update but I'm latest live build youve pushed through steam).
I dont really have the time to start the game again. Does anyone have any ideas?
I have the same issue. My Helicopter is not starting the expedition.
My Heli got stuck in Bungle Burrows on the Collapsed Tunel (Shock Labs) Mission and I neither cant demolish it with the Drag Demolish Tool nor could I build a building over the helipad to force its removal.
The Expedition did not progress at all. All it says is "on its way".
