The pastoral and medical care rooms require specific skills and I think the library should too. It's disrespectful to the good librarians out there.

Mechanically speaking, I've been disabling the library for every assistant who doesn't have that skill just because it helps streamline people to where they should be. I wouldn't consider it disrespectful though- actual librarians do require a lot of education, but there are a lot of other people who work in libraries too as assistants and volunteers.

This feature could be expanded to allow us to restrict any room to requiring certain relevant skills (such as private tuition), however I think this is technically already catered for with job assignments per colleague.

+1 to this from me as well!  As an actual librarian, I do feel disrespected by this, as well as extremely inconvenienced by the need to uncheck the room from every assistant without any library skills.

I feel the difference between librarians and assistants, etc. is reflected in the levels of the Library skill a given assistant has.  In real life, if a campus library was being run by people with no library skills at all, that would be a sad state of affairs and not good for student success.

Anyway, given that having the Library skill confers an important bonus, implementing the library like a food kiosk instead of like the clinic or pastoral care is inconsistent and does nothing for the gameplay other than creating an extremely tedious task for the player (made worse by the lack of a proper staff tasks screen).
